A patch of dead grass was replaced with drought-tolerant species to create a private, fast growing but low-maintenance yard. The solid redwood fence is set back from the property lines and ringed on the outside with dog resistant ornamental grasses. To the inside of the fence are a row of hedges, flowering beds & new ornamental trees. The design incorporated three existing fruit trees. Finally a freeform shape of sod was laid in the center & dotted with a pathway of stones. An inviting wooden bench fills out the composition.
Other than the grass, all irrigation is low-flow drip. This landscape overhaul uses less than 1/3 the water of the previous lawn.
