Good design needs to have an "aha", or "wow" to it. Something unexpected, but integral to the piece.
My design philosophy stems first & foremost from the problem to be solved. The goal of design is to solve the problem in as few moves as possible, paring the work down such that the total design is greater than the simple sum of the parts.
